My energy is starting to come back up. I think it was just depressing not having energy, having a hard time walking and the whole walking to the car thing. Hopefully my son's car gets out of the shop today. He was laid off as a roofer and hopefully gets another job soon!!!
My goal is to workout today, and practice. My practice was interrupted last night so hopefully today goes well.
My daughter moves back home today!!!!

Things are generally OK. I had left my acordeon where we rehearse so I wouldn't have to deal with transporting it back and forth as I wasn't always sure who I was getting a ride from. Brought it home and started working on learning some new stuff. Mainly trying to liven up the rancheras for the group I play with.
So I learned some polkita parts to put in instead of the regular solos and worked on some endings. Mostly stuff from the Garcias Brothers. I liked the way Country Roland did the song in this video and having los Garcia do it this is cool!

I'm watching TV and seeing people try to figure out how drilling new oil in 7-10 years will help me today. It's amazing, I now understand how the whole "American Way of Life" thing works. People are more willing to bomb other countries than give up driving the way we do.
And now freakin JalapeƱos are off the market!!! What the hell man! Glad I'm growing my own. My tomatoes are starting to produce as well as the pequin, and I have two bell peppers and one jalapeƱo!
Hopefully Albuquerque begins to redevelop itself into a sustainable City soon. Otherwise lots of pockets of the city are screwed, some for being too suburban, and the others for poorly planned density.

One fire on the block next to me and paramedics have been around a couple of times. Things seem calmer, but with 130 households on one street there is definitely challenges going on regularly.
I'm getting a really interesting lecture from a young activist in the community around criminalizing people, "the barrio" and gentrification. I don't know whether to feel sad or laugh. The young brother, who lives in a much calmer part of the 'hood than I is trying to show me the error of my ways for doing what I need to in keeping my family safe.
He sees housing redevelopment as "pacification through beautification." I understand the concern. I live in low income housing, unlike the bro educating me. Not that he lives in upscale housing, but driving through his part of the 'hood it is definitely much different. I definitely think that changing housing is key for health, but don't know if local government is committed to doing that without a complete displacement of people. That's the tricky part.
I do think things can change, but they aren't going to change by making excuses for criminal behavior nor "that's all a pipe dream" mentality. That sounds too much like lefty, "people of color" self-victimization to me.

Anyway, I hope this weekend goes well. I took my son's car into the shop to get it fixed. He'll probably be upset because he won't have a weekend ride, but I'll have to let him vent.
Off to the Fairgrounds meeting...

Houses for Sale
So if you have a good strong heart, and want to live somewhere close to people trying to make things better check these out...
I live in what is being redeveloped as the "International Neighborhoods" which is a big area - I stuck within walking distance of my house. So it is Zuni to Kathryn, and Louisian to San Pedro.
There will be first time buyer homes finished by Southern and Pennsylvania soon. Let me know if you want the info for the Greater Albuquerque Housing Partnership which is building those.
So here's a list... (all SE)

Things are OK. The neighborhood is quiet this week - always that way after a shooting. My son took over my car and he's kept it there overnight twice already, and no problem. I still want the camera, but figure it will be OK to get things more to normal without waiting for that. The police are not helping me directly, but there has been lots of APD activity on my street.
What has been most irritating is a wannabe social justice youth trying to talk to me about "keeping it real" for the people in the 'hood. If it was white people attacking my daughter and property, there would be an uproar. If I was a white veteran I could probably shoot someone and get off with three months, but alas, I was almost arrested for chasing someone with a bat - no hitting involved!
The yoga class at my work has been cut back. It was twice a week, but with a low turnout the instructor decided to try once a week. Apparently I was the only one "donating" for the class as well. So much for physical activity!
My son is on his second day at work as a roofer. He said it was hard, but seemed to be happy to have a job. I tried to help him get social justice work which is what he was asking for, but for the most part that part of my circle of connections has been really f*#$%&^g lame. Someday maybe...
Well, there's lots to write about, but not enough time. I have a lot of writing for work to do and make some calls. I need to call brother M back.

I thought about leaving the car at the house this weekend and then a neighbor had his window busted out Friday evening. Then there was a shooting Saturday night the next block over. On the bright side my daughter stayed at home last night. The car was home most of the night.
I have an appointment for an MRI. Lots going on. Post more later.

There are flowers starting on the squash, I see some pequins starting, and there is a bell pepper visible. Tomatoes still haven't started but they are growing well.
Let's see what the Gov wants to do with the Fairgrounds...
Thanks for the comments Marcie!

It feels like it would be OK to park the car in the drive and bring my daughter home, but I really want to have a security camera in place. That way if there's any more nonsense I'll at least have proof for the police.
Overall I'm in a funky place. I'm going to get my MRI, working on politics as a Third Party guy with only two parties to work with as far as people elected.
In thinking, talking with people, and reading it seems like the guidelines that people have figured out for open relationships are also great for "closed" relationships. Its just a lot of healthy communication and connection.
Still wanting to lift. Just need to get to a good place for at least a week.
