It's going to be hard with music rehearsals but keeping to a three times a week will be worth it.
People have asked some questions about my working out. A lot of beginner advice has been thrown my way. It's good to recognize people are trying to be supportive. I don't even know if anyone reads this anymore. I guess I'll know in a week or so.
Here's the low-down...
I work out in the garage. I am using a TSA-5820 home gym that I've had for about 6 years now. I'm doing a 3 day split. Monday is deadlift. Wednesday is bench press. And Friday is squats. I'm doing 3 sets of 10. 100 pounds for the main lifts and 15-35 pounds for other lifts. This is my last week of staying at that weight. Next week I start the slow increasing up to 250 pounds. That's the max safety limit on my home gym and I like safety. If I feel I need to go beyond that I will join a gym.
I'll post an actual workout soon!

Went on a date with my wife to see the Texas Tornados last night. My chiropractor had suggested I not lift on Friday after my Thursday adjustment. I followed that. Then I also skipped today in order to get a massage. Great massage - don't know exactly what shifted.
Still walking and trying to do a short walk before any longer walk. Going to use heat on the painful areas and look into restorative yoga.
I go back to work on Monday and feeling that sense that I will be slammed as soon as I get back. So today is my rest day.
I lost a good brother yesterday. Didn't find out until today. Besides the difficulty of losing a good friend it seems like the really sweet men that I know are going. Hope it is not a trend. We need all the sweet guys to live a long time and be a good example for the rest of us. I don't consider myself as nice or sweet as any of these guys who recently passed on. Guess I better still get into shape.
Also another friend got into the news for doing some education around spice in the neighborhood. Monday is time to go back at week 3 for lifting and re-starting at work.

Went to the chiropractor yesterday and had an adjustment. Was advised against lifting today. So I complied and went for a walk. It was painful at first. Stretched a couple of times during the walk.
Then came home and went out for a quick walk to the store and it was easier. So, my strategy now is to do a pre-walk and then the real walk. We'll see if that works. I'm going to get a massage tomorrow so I have to ask my massage therapist if she thinks it makes sense to lift before going to see her.

I had to cut off my first week of working out by a funeral. Though it was sad it was helpful to attend and see relatives and have some time to drive and think. There's probably a lot that "should" change in my life. Likely I will start making small changes, mostly on my interpersonal communication and just myself.
Working out is a big part of that. I can feel my body tightening up and being worn out. With that some of my mental energy seems to go as well.
So this week - it's back at the three day split (Mon/Weds/Fri) and lots of walking. Also some music in there.
