Veteran's Day Thoughts
As a veteran I always wonder about these holidays that we have in the US. I mean they are really more about war than the individuals, no matter what we say. We want war to be OK, and it stands to reason that we tell people who may go that they are special.
Yet, vets have a higher unemployment rate than the rest of the population. Vets are homeless much higher than the general population. They have higher substance abuse rates, domestic violence rates, and other problems.
And we assume that they at least have VA health care. Then why did 2,266 vets die last year because they don't have health insurance?
Keep Lefting!
