8/28/09

Getting a good night's sleep has been tough. I think I am getting better at it though. Here's a fun tip.

Also plan on working out today. I think I strained a muscle under my left shoulder so being busy actually kept me from aggrivating it. Today is a light workout so it should be good.

Went to a presentation last night at Self Serve about women with more than one partner. It always seems that those discussions are centered around men. It was interesting very different and included information about neurochemistry and biology.

8/27/09

My bro reminded me that it is easier for him to keep track of me if I posted more regularly.

That's been tough. But I'm working on it.


My hours for posting may change as well now that I'm in grad school.

This week has been hectic. Some unexpected family stress came up, but seems manageable, just tiring.

Work stress is high. But may be calming down.

I can tell that one of the bands I play with wants more time. Unfortunately, I don't think they'll get it. I'm just stretched and may need to back off if things keep piling up.

Oh, and D.E.P. Sen. Kennedy. My grandparents just loved the Kennedy's.

8/13/09

I'm was thinking how proud of my family I am. Then my daughter puts up this post. Makes me smile. Considering everything we've been challenged with our familia kicks ass.

I'm sore from the last workout and that makes me smile too. Work got in the way of working out yesterday. Oh well. I'll workout today or tomorrow. It will be the last heavy workout for this 4 week cycle. The next three workouts will be high rep workouts that focus on getting a "pump." Then I'll go to the medium workout for three weeks - three sets of 6-8. By going to "failure" then I'll still be building some strength but also getting more muscle growth than the two sets of 5 till failure. Then another week of pump and then the final mini-cycle which is four sets of 8-10. Then the final pump week.

After that I'll probably do an 8 week cycle to carry me to the end of the year and do this 12 week cycle again to start the year out strong.

Below is a song I recorded with the familia band - Mezcla Experience. The band is broke up but was a great five years of my life. I get to hear what a pain I was sometimes and I know I did my best and so did they. Hopefully they appreciate the experience as much as I did. (If not, it sucks for them!)

8/10/09

Had good workouts over the weekend. Still have back issues, but really starting to feel stronger.

It has always been hard for me to make my back feel sore - and not like that "I just popped something important pain - but muscle-building soreness. That is good. My workouts seem qualitatively different. Keeping going will be the most important thing.

It seems that rebuilding some strength with sets of 5 was a great idea! I was worried about pushing but was just dying at trying to not have any strain. I'm still not pushing 100 percent because I'm paying attention to discomforts very attentively. For me this will probably be a good strategy.

8/6/09

Had some good insights to some of the home stress yesterday. That's always nice even if it is challenging because then there is a reference point.

Also had a great workout with my daughter. I had to make up some exercises from the Monday workout. I'm trying to figure out getting stronger while I still strengthen my back! I'm also starting to get back in a groove at work.

All good stuff!

8/5/09

Had a good workout Monday even though I only got through half of it.

I will workout tonight. I think working out hard is better for me than light. It keeps my mood and my focus better. I also need to get enough sleep. I'm not letting go of enough tension over night.

We had a neighborhood night out event last night and it went great!
